HOT SPRING

Yamada Onsen, a hidden gem, was originally discovered by the warlord Fukushima Masanori during the Sengoku period. This renowned hot spring opened in the mid-Edo period, in the tenth year of Kansei (1798), and has been cherished for over 200 years.

EXPERIENCES

ZENKOJI TEMPLE

Zenkoji Temple, with a history spanning approximately 1,400 years, enshrines the Ikko Sanzon Amida Nyorai, said to be the oldest Buddha statue in Japan. As a temple open to all, regardless of sect, Zenkoji warmly welcomes visitors from around the world, attracting countless pilgrims for its inclusive and sacred atmosphere.

ACCESS

2 ways to get to Zenkoji from Fujiiso

1) Take a taxi directly to Zenkoji (Approx. 50 minutes)

2) Take a taxi, train, and bus (Approx. 70 minutes)
Take a taxi to Suzaka station from Fujiiso, then take the Nagano Electric Railway (Nagaden)
from Suzaka Station to Nagano Station. Finally, take the bus to Zenkoji.
This option is recommended for those who have luggage since it is possible to store luggage at
Nagano Station.
Please be aware that getting off at Zenkojishita Station on Nagano Electric Railway will require
you to go up a hill to get to Zenkoji.

SNOW MONKEY

Jigokudani Monkey Park attracts visitors from around the world with the chance to observe Japanese macaques, or “snow monkeys,” in their natural environment. In winter, these wild monkeys famously enjoy the park’s hot springs, creating a rare and globally renowned scene that offers an unforgettable experience for tourists.

3 ways to get to Snow Monkey from Fujiiso

1) Take a round-trip taxi
Take a taxi directly to Snow Monkey Parking lot and then walk to the park. The fare will be
about ¥35,000 in total.

2) Take the bus and train
Yamada Onsen bus stop (closest bus stop to Fujiiso)-> Suzaka Station (by bus)
Suzaka Station -> Yudanaka Station (by train)
Yudanaka Station -> Snow Monkey Park (by bus)

3) Take a taxi from Fujiiso to Obuse Station, and then take the train and bus
Obuse Station -> Yudanaka Station (by train)
Yudanaka Station -> Snow Monkey Park (by bus)
