Our establishment steadfastly upholds the tradition of Japan’ s Five Seasonal Festivals (Gosekku): Jinjitsu, Jōshi, Tango, Tanabata, and Chōyō. The final festival, Chōyō no Sekku, celebrated on the 9th of September, is less widely recognized today but is alternatively known as the “Chrysanthemum Festival.” Historically, the ninth month of the lunar calendar, which corresponds to the current October, marked the autumn harvest season. Chrysanthemums were esteemed in the Edo period for their potent aroma believed to repel malevolent forces and their reputed benefits for longevity. During Chōyō no Sekku, our establishment prepares an array of seasonal mountain delicacies, including mushrooms, chestnuts, ginkgo nuts, akebi (chocolate vine), and horse chestnuts. Additionally, we feature the autumnal harvest from the fields, such as newly harvested rice, buckwheat, beans, sesame, leafy vegetables, root vegetables, apples, persimmons, and grapes. The local fish varieties, including iwana (mountain trout), yamame (cherry salmon), Shinshu salmon, and yukimasu (snow trout), are also presented at their peak flavor.
To help you start your day with energy, we proudly serve dishes crafted with care, featuring an abundance of seasonal, locally-sourced vegetables. We invite you to savor the flavors of the countryside, enjoying the fresh tastes of each season, prepared with your health and well-being in mind.
